Ornithological Tourism

Our house is located in the middle of dry farming fields which makes it an ideal and unique environment for birdwatching enthusiasts to observe especially steppe birds, such as the Bustard, the Carraca or the Alcaraván.

ORNITOLOGY

Enjoy the observation of steppe birds such as the Little Bustard, the Short-toed Lark, the Hawk and the Rattail in the Plan de Sió SPA.

The rural house El Abellerol is located in the middle of dry farming fields. This location makes it an ideal environment to enjoy bird watching tourism, especially steppe birds..

The house is located in the ZEPA of Plans de Sió (Code: ES0000478), which is part of the Xarax Natura 2000 and the network of PEIN areas of the Generalitat de Catalunya. We are therefore in an area of special protection at a European level.

Birdwatching can be done all year round, as several birds spend the winter in the ZEPA. However, it is in spring, with the arrival of summer migratory birds, that this area becomes an ideal place for bird watching.

Very close to the house (5km) you can discover the natural richness of the ecosystems of the drylands of Lleida in the interpretation centre that you will find in the Castle of Concabella. For more information you can go to the following link:

Another area where you can observe more than 100 different species of birds is in the Estany de Ivars i Vilassana, which is about 20 minutes by car from the rural house.
